Google Reader problem

For some reason it seems I cannot access Google Reader from my home computer.

1. Log in to view my iGoogle start page
2. Go to my “Content” tab, where the Google Reader gadget is displayed properly (that is with unread items)
3. Click on the title of the gadget to access the full version of Google Reader

Expected behaviour:
1. The full version of Google Reader should be displayed

Actual behaviour:
1. Login screen is displayed asking me for my password
2. Entering and validating my login credentials will take me back to the login screen
3. Repeat 1.

Anyone has had similar problem before? I run Ubuntu 7.04, Firefox with a couple of extensions (e.g. Gmail notifier, Customize Google) and the preference to delete all cookies and browsing history at exit. Restarting Firefox doesn’tfix the issue.

I must precise that all other Google services work as intended (Google Docs, Gmail etc.)…

[Update] It seems the CustomizeGoogle extension was at the origin of the bug. I disabled the option to switch to a secure connection (https) which solved the problem instantly… So what does this mean? Google Reader servers are not supporting secure connections? I doubt it.
